I haven’t had a a proper girls night out in…I don’t even know how long. And I’m not just talking about the having dinner and drinks with your girlfriends kind of night, I’m talking about having dinner and drinks with your girlfriends, karaoke, bowling, dancing, a good old-fashioned sleepover, then brunch and gossip the next day. How did we even function the next morning? Mimosas helped.
At some point during karaoke, Jen dragged me up to sing Bohemian Rhapsody with her (let’s be honest…not much dragging was needed) and we sang a pretty passionate duet. There’s even a recording of us on someone’s phone, which I would not in a million years show here, as neither of us are known for our singing chops.
Funny story, and I might have told it already, but Jen and I used to sing Bohemian Rhapsody (along with a few Michael Jackson songs) during our lunch break in junior high all the time. By the end of the year, we were the only ones sitting at that table. Annoying and repellant to our classmates? Maybe. Awesome, misunderstood and appreciative of good music? Definitely.
Would you believe me if I told you that in the next game, my score was even lower?
We all had such a blast and the fantastic dinner at Bar Americain made it that much better. I have yet to go in there and be disappointed. Yes, it’s Bobby Flay’s restaurant. Yes, it’s very touristy, but there’s a reason for that. It’s damn delicious in there. Get the caramelized onion and bacon flatbread pizza appetizer!!!**
