to my old stomping grounds and back

My oldest friend, Jen, is getting married next year (!), so over the weekend, I went back to my old neighborhood of Bensonhurst, Brooklyn to hang and get fitted for my gorgeous bridesmaid dress.

Have I mentioned I love being a bridesmaid so far? It could be because Jen is the total opposite of a bridezilla. Or it could be my love for the dress she picked out for the girls. But it’s probably a combination of both. And the fact that I’ve never been a part of a wedding before, so it’s exciting new territory for me.

We went to Burger Bistro for some lunch, followed by the fitting and a quick stop at Spumoni Gardens. If you ever find yourself in the area, you must try their spumoni (I love the vanilla). And the pizza ain’t half bad either – the Sicilian is one of my favorites.

After a very long train ride back to Queens, I dragged Bob out to the park – which is getting to be a weekly thing now – to find a concert of local bands playing and the last of the swimmers in the pool.

I felt like an antsy little kid that wanted to go in the pool so badly, but instead just watched the fun from the sideline. Don’t know what I’ve been waiting for, but I’m going to make it a point to get out here at least a few times this year. Got to live it up before the summer disappears right before my eyes. How is it the middle of July already?! Ah!
