adventures in weekending: 2 birthdays for the price of 1

Bob and I decided to combine our birthday celebrations (we were born only one day apart!) and have a small get-together at The Smith with just a few close friends.

We had such a great time! I always feel a little apprehensive about mixing friends, but it always turns out well.  Through the cocktails, shared chicken potpies, bacon-wrapped apricots and cheesy gnocchi, we were chatting it up like crazy. I was thankful that the restaurant was busy and bustling, otherwise, we would have been the most obnoxiously loud table there.  A sign of a good time, that’s for sure!

I also combined two groups of my friends during my wedding celebrations and it was the best decision. I am here now and back home they are best friends! Also, Belated Happy Birthday to both of you! :)

How fun that your birthdays are just a day apart! Your celebration sounds like it was wonderful, despite the mixed group of friends. That always makes me nervous too! Hope you had a very happy birthday!!

Happy Belated Birthday! It looks like you had a wonderful time and some seriously good food 😉

PS. I linked to the artichoke recipe in my post. I didn't really make any big changes, used a little more garlic and less olive oil. And I skipped the fresh parsley as I simply forgot to buy it.
